Let's Get Building! We'll show you around, and give your child a project in 3D Printing, Robotics, or Coding. We will use this session to make sure we find the right program for your kid. We will discuss membership options, and answer any questions.
Steamoji was founded by Hank Horkoff, a father with 2 pre-teenage sons. He wanted to expose them to STEAM skills. He tried doing it himself, but got overwhelmed when searching for ‘STEM kits’ on Amazon with thousands of options. He tried Summer Camps at local maker spaces, got his children excited, but then had no way for them to continue to nurture that interest. An entrepreneur himself at heart, he recruited a talented group of other parents (sharing similar frustrations) and a network of subject matter experts to bring Steamoji to life.
Steamoji is for school-aged children. Our core program is designed for children ages 6-14 and relies on basic reading skills. For children that aren’t quite ready we offer the Steamoji Junior bridge program.
Our 400-hours structured and reinforcing “Build to Solve” curriculum complements and enriches your child’s school studies by exposing them to new technologies in 4 distinct pathways:
Fabrication, where they learn how to use machines like 3D Printers and Laser Cutters.
Physical Computing, which includes learning skills in Coding and Robotics.
Engineering, understanding Physics and Mechanics helps us understand how things work.
Digital Arts, everything from Animation, Photo and Video editing, storytelling and much more.
No. Steamoji is currently only available for young apprentices. However, we encourage parents to get involved with group activities, open house days and our annual ‘Steamoji Day’ event. Young adults with a passion for making can also get involved by applying to work at Steamoji as a facilitator.
